Wild West
May/100

Would the wild west buffs of today have been successful in the days of the wild west?
Isn’t todays engineer yesterdays blacksmith? Isn’t todays mercenary yesterdays outlaw?
Is there some type of escapism psychology going on here where people escape to another time where they think they could have been someone?
I understand a genuine interest of the wild west, even an obsession because I get obsessed with things too. But I grew up in the country and there was a lot of this mentality going around.
Why?
No more than Wild Bill would fit in here today.
I live in Australia so don’t come into contact with too many devotees of the Wild West.
Being a fan of something doesn’t necessarily mean a pursuit of escaping.
I myself admire that period of time but not because I feel I could have been someone but more for the challenge for actual survival and the raw simplicity of the times.
I do think men from the country would have more success in that time than men who have lived their entire lives in the cities.
Joe, this is a great question and you do it a injustice by posting it in this category.
Psychology would have got you far better answers; you can still re-post it though.

General George
Jun/090

What was the one bad thing General George Patton did?
what was something he did– not related to the battle– that he said was a big mistake???
ok thanks everyone.. thats what i thought: the slapping incident. but i wasn’t sure if there was something else?
He slapped a soldier recuperating from battle which was well publicized. He advocated going to war against the Soviet Union.

landscape photography prices
Apr/090

I am so confused! Would like to buy a digital camera and have seen the comparison sites but still confused?
Price range £50-£70?
6MP up
Mainly outdoor photography, landscape, wildlife.
it’s difficult within that budget, you may need to rethink and consider bottom level SLR’s like the Nikon D40/50. But the first thing you need to do is ignore comparison sites, find a decent local camera, go there when it’s not too busy and just try out loads of cameras. Specs are all very well and good, but unless you feel comfortable holding the camera in your hands you’ll find it hard to take a good photo. So go there, see what works, and take it from there. I’d suggest holding out for longer if you don’t enough cash right now and get the right camera for you, your budget is very small really. Good luck!

Watch a Clip of J Roddy Walston and the Business, the Band Opening for the Hold Steady
The Baltimore rockers will be sharing the bill with the Hold Steady at the Bowery Ballroom this Saturday; here’s a taste of what’s to come. Namely, some good old-fashioned head-banging, floor-spitting, and falling off pianos. We’re enjoying it — you can hear a little more over on their MySpace . Native American
Dec/080

What percentage Native American do you have to be in order to receive the tribal casino money?
I am part Chippewa and I was wondering what percentage Native American you have to be to receive casino revenue money. I am asking for the Chippewa Tribe, but any information on any tribe would be appreciated.
Percentages are forgotten treaties. Money isn’t longer printed in honour of Earth or Animals. At least coins are still round, lol! Paper is in the shape of “Property,”..kinda like the new high-tech debit cards.
It’s all the same story.
Do you have Band Card? lol! Is it square kinda like how the Brittish organize property?
